System Requirements Review + System Preliminary Design Review Part 1 with MoDs and the Consortium, 3 December 2025 at EU Satellite Center, Madrid, Spain

PROJECT STATUS

The 17 MoDs and the European Commission have pronounced the acceptance of the

■  User Requirements Review

■  Mission Requirements Review

■  System of System Requirements Review

■  System Requirements Review, in particular of the Federation Layer

 

The first part of the System level Preliminary Design Review also passed successfully.

Furthermore, important work has been performed together with EU SatCen on the governance framework, sharing rules across End Users and restrictions.

IN ADDITION

■  A System of Systems capability simulator was developed, combining contributions from ADS France, TAS Italy, VTT (Finland) and Kongsberg DA (Norway)

 

■ A gap analysis with respect to existing and soon to come commercial and national missions, services and assets was performed.

 

■ Mission reference scenarios have been defined together with MoDs to assess the systems’ performances on realistic scenarios

 

■ Work on Security and Accreditation topics is also moving forward, involving MoDs’ security experts.

NEXT STEPS

Many activities are currently moving for ward in parallel in view to complete the System level Preliminary Design Review in March 2026.

 

The Consor tium focuses on designing each Earth Obser vation System: optical visible including night vision, thermal infrared, hyperspectral, SAR and passive RF.

 

Technical derisking activities are also moving forward in the first half of 2026, addressing parts of space segments, ground segment s and the Federation Layer.
